Daily Bible Reading “Teach Me Good Judgment and Knowledge” (Psalm 119:65-72)

Teach Me Good Judgment and Knowledge

Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Psalm 119:65-72. This portion of Scripture in Psalm 119 starts with the letter TETH, which is the ninth letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The Psalmist acknowledges that the LORD has dealt with him and asks God to teach him to have good judgment and knowledge. He believes the commandments of God. He admits at one time he strayed from the LORD, but since he was afflicted, he has kept the word of the LORD.

The Psalmist professes that God is good and does good. He wants to learn God’s statutes. He says the proud have told lies about him, but he will keep the precepts of the LORD with his whole heart despite his circumstances.

He says it is good that he was afflicted, because his affliction caused him to learn the statutes of the LORD. He values the word of the LORD more than he values gold and silver. Do you value the word of the LORD?

Have you ever noticed that when we stray from the LORD, He allows circumstances to happen in our lives to draw us back to Him? Our life would be much easier if we would obey to start with. It’s kind of like when our children disobey us and we have to exercise some type of correction for them. Then they will learn to obey.

Daily Bible Reading:

Psalm 119:65-72

65 TETH. Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.

66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.

67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.

68 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.

69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.

70 Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.

71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

Things to Think About:

  • Has God ever dealt with you about something in your life?
  • Did you notice you were closer to God after He dealt with you?
  • Have you noticed when others turn against you, you are more likely to cling to God?
  • Do you treasure the words of the LORD?

Prayer of the Day:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for this Scripture in Psalm 119 where the Psalmist admits that You dealt with him and because of it, he turned to Your ways. He asks You to teach him to have good judgment and knowledge. Teach us also, LORD, so we can make right decisions in our life. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
