The King’s Heart
Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Proverbs 21:1-10. In this Scripture, we are told that the king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like rivers of water: he turns it wherever he wishes.
If God influences the heart of the king, how do you suppose He influences our hearts and minds? As believers, we should ask God to lead, guide and direct our thoughts, our lives, our actions and our decisions. After all He is the only one who knows the path we should follow.
The ways of a person are right in their own eyes: but the LORD considers a person’s heart.
Doing right and being just is more pleasing to the LORD than when we offer sacrifices to Him.
A haughty look, a proud heart, and the cultivating of evil, is sin.
The thoughts of the hard-working lead to plenty; but those who are hasty only to want.
Wealth created by a lying tongue will vanish like the wind being tossed back and forth by those who seek after death.
The violence of wicked people will destroy them; because they refuse to do what is right.
The way of a wicked person is perverse: but as for those who are pure at heart, their work is right.
It is better to dwell in a corner of the roof top, than with a fighting woman in a big house.
The soul of a wicked person desires evil: even their neighbor finds no favor in their eyes.
Daily Bible Reading:
1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
Things to think about:
- What does this Scripture say about the king’s heart?
- What does this Scripture say will happen to wealth created by a lying tongue?
- What does this Scripture say about living with an angry woman?
