Commit to the LORD
Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Proverbs 16:1-9. In this Scripture, we are reminded that the preparations of the heart and the answer of the tongue come from the LORD. All our ways are clean in our own eyes; but the LORD weighs the spirits.
Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.
The LORD created all things for himself: including the wicked for the day of evil.
Everyone who has a proud heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand joins in hand, they will not be innocent.
Iniquity is purged by mercy and truth: and because of the fear of the LORD people turn away from evil.
When a person’s ways please the LORD, He makes even their enemies to be at peace with them.
It is better to have a little with righteousness than great riches without doing right.
A person’s heart may devise their path: but the LORD directs their steps.
We may think we know what we are supposed to do. We may have dreams and goals. We may make plans. But, God is the one who directs our steps and leads us through life. We need to humble ourselves and seek God’s will through prayer. We need to commit our lives to God. When we are in God’s perfect will then we can consider ourselves successful.

Things to think about:
- What are the things we learn in this Scripture about surrendering our will to God’s will?
- Who has the ultimate control of our lives?
- How can we commit our ways to the LORD?
Prayer of the Day:
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we read this Scripture in the book of Proverbs we see that despite our best efforts we fall short. Help us to examine our hearts and realize our need for a Savior. Forgive us of the ways we have sinned against You. Help us to commit our ways to you. Help us to make right decisions in our life. Direct our path, oh LORD. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
