Philippians - 25The Book of Philippians: Paul’s Letter to Philippi

by Deborah H. Bateman

About the book:

The Book of Philippians: Paul’s Letter to Philippi is a Daily Bible Reading study of the book of Philippians by Deborah H. Bateman. The book of Philippians is from the New Testament of the Bible and is one of the Apostle Paul’s letters. In the book of Philippians Paul encourages the saints at Philippi to be strong in their faith, to stand fast in the Lord and to be content in Christ.

Paul loved the Philippians and it shows in his writing to them. Paul knew that they loved him as well. The Philippians showed their love for Paul by supporting his ministry.

Paul would never forget the Philippians because of the way they cared for him when he ministered to them. They would always have a special place in his heart.

Paul wanted the best for the Philippians. He wanted to make sure they never let anybody steer them in the wrong direction. He wanted them to stay on course and do the things he had taught them whether he was with them or not.

The Book of Philippians: Paul’s Letter to Philippi contains ten Daily Bible Reading lessons. Each lesson consists of a brief commentary, the daily Bible Scripture, several questions for contemplation, and a prayer for the day to go along with the lesson. This is a great Bible study for individual daily devotions or for a group Bible study.

galatians-25The Book of Galatians: Paul’s Letter to the Churches of Galatia

by Deborah H. Bateman

About the book:

The Book of Galatians: Paul’s Letter to the Churches of Galatia is a Daily Bible Reading Study of the book of Galatians. The book of Galatians is in the New Testament and is one of Paul’s letters. He wrote it to the churches of Galatia.

Paul is concerned that the people of Galatia are being taught something different than the true gospel, which he had taught them earlier. Paul goes to great lengths to make sure they understand the difference between living under the law and living under the grace of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Book of Galatians: Paul’s Letter to the Churches of Galatia contains sixteen daily Bible lessons. Each lesson consists of a brief commentary, the daily Bible Scripture, a few questions for contemplation called, “Things to think about,” and a prayer for the day. This book is good for personal daily Bible study and would be great to use for group Bible studies as well.

The Book of Philemon: Paul’s Letter to Philemon

by Deborah H. Bateman

About the book:

The Book of Philemon: Paul’s Letter to Philemon is a Daily-Bible-Reading Study of the book of Philemon which is found in the New Testament of the Bible. This is the shortest one of Paul’s letters. In this letter Paul encourages Philemon to forgive and accept Onesimus, his runaway slave, back as he would accept a brother. This book contains great lessons for us today about authority and how we should treat our brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Book of Philemon: Paul’s Letter to Philemon contains two daily Bible lessons since this book is only one chapter long in the Bible. The lessons consist of a brief commentary by the author, Deborah H. Bateman, the daily Bible Scriptures, a few questions to contemplate called “Things to think about,” and a prayer for the day. This is a great Bible study for individual or group studies.

My First Writer’s Conference

Have you ever been to a writer’s conference? I will be attending my first writer’s conference this coming weekend. It’s called Writer’s Advance Boot Camp.

Deborah_Bateman_photo_woman_writing

An author friend of mine will be traveling with me for the conference. Since it’s my first time going to a writer’s conference, I don’t know what to expect. The conference is for traditionally published authors so I’m not sure how they will receive me since I am a self-published author.

Another of my concerns is that we have to be at the conference center for breakfast at 7:30 am. I wake up early, but I’m not really a morning person. I can do anything I have to do, but it may be a bit of a challenge.

You know how it is when you’re going to an event for the first time. You’re a little apprehensive because you don’t know what to expect. One of my concerns is that we have to share a room. There will be four of us in our room. Two of the other people I know and one I have never met.

I will be meeting other writers, authors, publishers, agents and speakers. Some of the people who are going I have already met, but most of them I haven’t. Some of them I am friends with on Facebook and some I have no prior connections with. I’m looking forward to seeing what connections God wants me to make here.

I’m ready to see what God has in store for me. I’m looking forward to what the speakers have to share. Knowing that God has a purpose in me going and wondering what messages He will send me through this conference.  Hoping and praying my heart and mind are open and ready to receive what He wants me to. Maybe He’ll open some doors for me for my books and my ministry. I need to be open to receive whatever He has in store for me.

Now I have to get everything ready to go. My to-do list seems to be growing. I have to get the car washed and filled with gas. My clothes washed and packed. I need to print out the agenda and roster for the event and a few other things.

What is your best advice for a girl who is about to go to her first writer’s conference? Leave a comment and share with me. I’ll be sure to let you know how it went when I get back.

How to Enjoy Reading and Studying the Bible

Some people may find reading and studying the Bible to be hard, while others find it inspirational, encouraging, and uplifting. Reading the Bible and coming to know the Lord can be a life-changing experience.

Bible - light

Making a habit of reading from the Bible every day is a good habit to get into. It will help you get to know the Bible and get to know the Lord.

When studying the Bible, you go a little deeper than just reading it. You can actually dig in and ask yourself some questions to help you comprehend and apply what you have read.

I like to study one book at a time in the Bible so I can get a clear understanding of what that book is about rather than skipping around to different passages of Scripture.

10 Questions to Ask Yourself While Studying the Bible

I have ten questions that I want to share with you that may help you as you study the Bible. I’ve broken them down into two sets of questions.

The first set of questions, you can ask yourself, while reading and studying the Bible, is the who, what, where and when questions:

Who is writing this passage of Scripture?

Who is it about?

What is going on in this Scripture?

What can I learn from this Scripture?

Where is the Scripture taking place?

When is this Scripture taking place?

The next set of questions you might like to ask yourself is more about your senses:

What do you see in this Scripture?

What do you hear in this Scripture?

What do you feel in this Scripture?

How does this Scripture make you feel?

I hope applying these questions to your Bible study time will help you to dig deeper into God’s Word and come out feeling like you are really getting to know and understand what the Bible is all about. If you would like to join us for our daily Bible study you can subscribe to Daily-Bible-Reading, where we share a daily devotional Monday through Friday.

You may also like to check out some of the books I’ve written about different books of the Bible or specific topics. I take you through the book one day at a time sharing a brief commentary, the daily Bible Scripture, a few questions for contemplation and a prayer for the day. All of my books are available on Amazon.

May God bless you as you read and study the Bible,

Deborah
