Daily Bible Reading “Thy Word is a Lamp unto My Feet” (Psalm 119:105-112)

Thy Word is a Lamp unto My Feet

Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Psalm 119:105-112. This portion of Scripture in Psalm 119 starts with NUN, the fourteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, equal to the letter N and representative of the number fifty. The Psalmist starts this portion of the Scripture with one of my favorite verses, which says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Reading and studying the Word of God will give you direction in your life. It will shine light in the dark areas of your life.

The Psalmist has taken a vow to keep the righteous judgments of God. He reminds God he has suffered a lot and asks Him to save his life, according to God’s Word. He asks God to accept the sacrifice of praise he gives freely with his mouth and teach him the judgments of God.

The Psalmist says, he constantly takes his life in his hands, but promises he will not forget the laws of God. The wicked have tried to entrap him by setting snares for him, but he has not strayed from God’s precepts. He has taken the testimonies of the LORD as his heritage forever, and he rejoices over them in his heart. He has set his heart on keeping the statutes of the LORD as long as he lives.

Daily Bible Reading:

Psalm 119:105-112

105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

106 I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.

107 I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.

108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments.

109 My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.

110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.

111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.

Things to Think About:

  • Have you noticed how God’s Word shines a light in the dark areas of your life?
  • Have you made a commitment to walk in the ways of the LORD?
  • Do you give praise to God with your mouth?

Prayer of the Day:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for this Scripture in Psalm 119 where the Psalmist reminds us Your word is like a light to direct our paths, shining light in this dark world. Help us to treasure Your word and commit to follow after it. Help us to praise You with our mouth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
