The LORD is my Refuge
Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Psalm 11:1-7. Psalm 11 is a Psalm of David to the Chief Musician. David declares that he puts his trust in the LORD. David was being told to flee like a bird to his mountain. Do you ever feel like flying away like a bird?
The wicked were getting their bow and arrows ready and many were afraid that the king would be killed. They encouraged him to take refuge in the mountains. They wanted him to hide out. They asked what the righteous can do if the foundations were destroyed.
David put his faith and trust in the LORD. The LORD is his refuge. David declares that the LORD is in His holy temple. He is still on the throne. The LORD may try, or judge, the righteous, but He hates wickedness and violence. God will rain fire and brimstone on the wicked.
The LORD loves the righteous and holds the upright with His countenance. We can put our complete faith and trust in God, as David did.
Daily Bible Reading:
Psalm 11:1-7
1 [[To the chief Musician, [A Psalm] of David.]] In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

- What were David’s advisers telling him to do?
- What was David’s response to them?
- What does David say the LORD will do to the wicked?
- Who is it that the LORD loves?
Prayer of the Day:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this Scripture in the book of Psalms. David reminds us to put our faith and trust in You when the enemy comes against us. Help us to know that if You are on our side we can never be defeated. Help us to put our faith and trust in You as David did. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
