Order My Steps in Your Word
Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Psalm 119:129-136. This portion of Scripture from Psalm 119 starts with PE, the seventeenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It is equal to the letter P and represents the number 80. The Psalmist begins by proclaiming that he keeps the testimonies of the LORD because of how wonderful they are. He says, God’s Word gives light and understanding to the simple.
The Psalmist pants because of his longing for God’s commandments. He asks God to look favorably on him and have mercy on him because of his love for God. He requests that God direct his steps according to His word and keep him from sin’s dominion.
He begs God to deliver him from the oppression of man and help him to keep the precepts of God. He asks God to shine His face upon him and teach him the ways of God. Tears flow from his eyes because of man’s disobedience to God’s laws.
Even though we don’t live in the Old Testament times where people were under the law, God’s Word still has principals and precepts that He wants His children to follow.
Daily Bible Reading:
Psalm 119:129-136
129 PE. Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
131 I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.
132 Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy name.
133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
134 Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.
135 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes.
136 Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.
Things to Think About:
- Do you love the Word of God?
- Do you long to spend time studying the Word of God?
- Does it break your heart when you see the sin and disobedience against God’s Word in the world today?
- Do you desire God’s leadership, guidance, and direction in your life?
