The Anchor Holds
Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Psalm 119:121-128. This portion of Scripture from Psalm 119 starts with AIN, the sixteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It means eye and represents the letter O. The Psalmist is having trouble understanding why he has to go through the troubles he is facing. He has done what is right and just and begs God not to leave him at the mercies of his oppressors
He asks the LORD to watch over him, protect him and not let the enemy oppress him. He requests that the LORD be merciful to him and teach the statutes of the LORD to him. He reminds the LORD that he is a servant of His and asks Him to give him understanding so he can learn the testimonies of the LORD.
The Psalmist tells the LORD it is time for Him to act because his enemies have broken the laws of God. He declares that he loves the commandments of the LORD more than fine gold and considers all God’s precepts to be right, and hates every wrong way. He knows right from wrong and has learned to uphold righteousness and detest unrighteousness.
Daily Bible Reading:
Psalm 119:121-128
121 AIN. I have done judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressors.
122 Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.
123 Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.
124 Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.
125 I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.
126 It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.
127 Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.
128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.
Things to Think About:
- Have you ever been in a time in your life when you cried out to God for relief?
- Have you ever wondered why God allowed you to go through something?
- Have you ever begged God for mercy for you or for one of your family members?
- Have you discovered that whatever you have to go through in life, if you hold onto God He will carry you through?
Prayer of the Day:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for this Scripture in Psalm 119 where the Psalmist reminds us there will be troubling times in this life, but if we turn our problems and troubles over to You, You will see us through them. Thank you for loving us and giving your only Son to die on the cross for our sins. Thank You for always being there to listen when we need to talk. Thank You for being a friend that sticks closer than a brother. We love you, LORD. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Daily Bible Verse:
I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.
