Daily Bible Reading “God Created Heaven” (Genesis 1:6-8)

Genesis 1 6God Created Heaven

Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Genesis 1:6-8. On the second day God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

Then, God made the sky, which separated the waters that were under the sky from the waters that were above the sky, and it was as He said. God called the firmament Heaven. Notice that each of God’s creations has a purpose. The evening and the morning were the second day.

Psalm 19:1 tells us, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”

Job 37:18 describes the sky as a molten looking glass, “Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?”

I love looking at the sky, with its variety of colors, and the textures of the clouds. Every day it is like God painted a new piece of artwork for our enjoyment.

The clouds of the sky also serve a purpose as they gather moisture and pour rain down to water the earth. I don’t really like being out in the rain like some people do, but I love to sit and watch it rain through the window. I also love how the grass, bushes, trees, and flowers look so green and refreshed after a good rain.

Daily Bible Reading:

Genesis 1:6-8

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Things to think about:

  • For what purpose did God create Heaven?
  • What are some other words for sky used in this Scripture?
  • Do you enjoy gazing at the sky?

Prayer of the Day:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this Scripture in Genesis where we learn that you created Heaven. We notice that each of your creations has a purpose. Thank you for the beauty that you share with us daily. Help us to appreciate your creation. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Bible Verse to Journal or Memorize:

psalms_part_5-25The Book of Psalms: Part 5 Chapters 120-150
by Deborah H. Bateman

About the Book:

The Book of Psalms: Part 5 Chapters 120-150 by Deborah H. Bateman is 30th book in the Daily Bible Reading Series. The book of Psalms contains 150 chapters. Deborah divided The Book of Psalms into five books to make it easier to read and study. Each book contains approximately thirty chapters from the book of Psalms.

Psalm 119 has already been published in a book about it called: Psalm 119: Thy Word is a Lamp unto My Feet. The book of Psalms is one of Deborah’s favorite books of the Bible. It is a great book to read if you’re ever feeling down or need to renew your relationship with Christ. King David went through a lot of tough times in his lifetime, but he loved God and trusted God to protect him from his enemies.

The book of Psalms was written by various people. About half of it was attributed to King David, whether they were written by David or for David is questioned by some biblical scholars. Some of the Psalms were written by Asaph and some say they were written for the sons of Korah and even Moses and Solomon were writers of the Psalms. The Psalms consists of poetry that was primarily meant to be used as songs of praise to the Lord.

This part of the book of Psalms contains fifteen of the Songs of degrees. They were the songs or chants that the people of Israel sang as they journeyed to Jerusalem. It also contains some of the Psalms of David.

The Book of Psalms: Part 5 Chapters 120-150 contains thirty-eight Daily Bible Reading Lessons. Each lesson contains a brief commentary by the author, the Daily Bible Reading Scriptures, a few questions for contemplation or discussion, and a prayer of the day. It is a great Bible study for individuals or group studies.

Daily Bible Reading “Wisdom is a Gift from God” (Proverbs 8:22-31)

Wisdom is a Gift from God

Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Proverbs 8:22-31. The LORD possessed me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was anointed from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth was created. When there were no watery depths, I was brought forth; when there were no oceans flowing with water.

Before the mountains were formed, even before the hills I was brought out: Before God made the earth, or the fields, or the highest part of the soil of the world.

When He created the clouds above: when He reinforced the fountains of the deep: When He gave the sea His declaration that the waters were not to pass the boundaries He commanded: when He created the foundations of the earth:

I was beside Him, as one who was brought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him; Rejoicing in the inhabitable part of His earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

As I was reading this Scripture, I thought this sounds like Jesus. Then, I looked up the cross references and it brought up this Scripture from John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

According to this Scripture, even though Jesus wasn’t born into the world yet as we know it; He was still with God and a part of God’s plan to save the world.

This Scripture tells us that He was with God before God even created the world. He was part of God’s plan from the beginning. At the proper time God anointed Jesus to be born into this world so that He could become the Savior of the people of this world.

That is true wisdom from above, the wisdom of God to create the world and humanity and then to have a plan to save the world from their sins.

In this Scripture, we learn that wisdom is a gift from God, like salvation is a gift from God.

I love this quote from John Piper, “The wisdom of God devised a way for the love of God to deliver sinners from the wrath of God while not compromising the righteousness of God.”

Daily Bible Reading:

Proverbs 8:22-31

22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

Things to think about:

  • What do we learn about wisdom in this Scripture?
  • From where does true wisdom come?
  • When was Jesus anointed?

Prayer of the Day:

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we read this Scripture we are told that Jesus was with you from the beginning of time. We thank You for giving Your precious Son, who loved us and gave His life to save us from our sins. Help us to seek Him and to seek Your wisdom, true wisdom. Help us not to only rely on the wisdom of men, but to constantly seek wisdom from above. In Jesus’ name, we pray. We love You and thank You for all Your many blessings. Amen.

It Is Time to Realign

clock

Have you ever felt like it was time to realign your priorities? I am writing this post to share from my heart with my family, friends, followers and fans to let you know that I am making some changes. Over the past three years I have put my heart, soul and life into the ministry that God has called me to do. I will continue to do that, but I feel like I need to make some changes in order to be able to sustain the ministry and serve you better.

My husband has wanted me to not work on the weekends for quite some time, but I didn’t feel the freedom to do that until now. There have been some changes in our lives recently in that he got a new job and because of that I have the opportunity to travel with him.

Because most of my work is online at this point I can work from anywhere. I have decided to take the opportunity so that I can spend more time with my husband. Life is short and we aren’t promised tomorrow.

I feel that by changing my focus and working Monday through Friday during business hours I will allow myself some freedom as well. I will be able to spend more time with my husband during the week and on the weekends. I will be able to spend time with my children and grandchildren on the weekends as well. I will also be able to schedule time for writer’s meetings, writer’s conferences, church activities and women’s ministry.

I guess you are asking what does this have to do with you. I have been posting seven days a week for the past three years on Daily-Bible-Reading.com and BibleVerseTweet.com. Starting today I will be posting Monday through Friday. There is plenty of content there that I have created in the past three years in the archives for those of you who want to view it on the weekends.

At times I have felt burned out and exhausted. I have felt over worked and under paid. I have also experienced some physical issues. Due to my own physical well-being and the need to realign my schedule I feel these changes are absolutely necessary. I feel I will be able to get some much needed rest and will be able to focus better when I am working.

I love serving you and am excited about what God has done in the past and what He has planned for the future. There will be more books. I plan on publishing one book a month in the Daily-Bible-Reading Series over the next year. I also am planning on publishing another book in the Simplified Series in the next year. I am working on a coaching program to go along with Self-Publishing Simplified: How to Publish a Book on Kindle that I hope to release soon where I will be teaching other writers how to publish their books.

God has been good to me. He has blessed me with a wonderful family that I dearly love. He has blessed me with a ministry where I can serve Him and share with you. He has blessed me with many wonderful friends, followers and fans and I am grateful for every one of you. Thank you for your continued prayers and support as I move forward for His glory.
