The Name of the LORD is a Strong Tower
Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Proverbs 18:10-18. We are reminded in this Scripture that the name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous run into it, and are safe.
The rich person’s wealth is their strong city, and as a high wall in their own conceit.
Before destruction the heart of people is haughty, and before honor is humility.
A person who answers a matter before they hear it, it is folly and shame unto them. This Proverb reminds us that we need to be better listeners. Have you ever started to answer a person before you heard the whole question?
The spirit of a person will sustain their weakness; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; and the ear of the wise seek knowledge.
A person’s gift makes room for them, and brings them before great people.
Those who are first in their own cause seem just; but their neighbor comes and searches him.
The lot causes contentions to cease, and parts between the mighty.
As we think of the name of the LORD being compared to a strong tower, what does that tell us? The LORD is our protector and as a strong tower He can protect us from the enemy. When the righteous run to Him they are safe. He is our fortress.

Things to think about:
- What is the name of the LORD compared to in this Scripture? How does it compare?
- What does a rich person consider to be their strong city?
- How is a person blessed by their gift?
Prayer of the Day:
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we read this Scripture in the book of Proverbs we are reminded that the name of the LORD is a strong tower. Help us to run to You in our times of need. Remind us that You are the one who protects us from the enemy. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
