Praise Ye the LORD
Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Psalm 135:14-21. In this portion of Scripture from Psalm 135, the Psalmist reminds us that the LORD will judge His people. Then, he warns us about serving idols.
The Psalmist tells us that idols are made from silver or gold by men’s hands. Idols have ears which can’t hear, eyes which can’t see, mouths which can’t speak or breathe, and so is everyone who makes them and trusts in them. The Bible calls these idols graven images.
Here are some other Scriptures that talk about graven images or idols and warn us not to serve these types of gods.
Psalm 78:58 – For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
Isaiah 42:8 – I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
Isaiah 42:17 – They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.
We are blessed to have a living God whom we can worship and praise forever. He is a jealous God and will not share His glory or praise with any other god.
Daily Bible Reading:
Psalm 135:14-21
14 For the LORD will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.
15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;
17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.
18 They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.
19 Bless the LORD, O house of Israel: bless the LORD, O house of Aaron:
20 Bless the LORD, O house of Levi: ye that fear the LORD, bless the LORD.
21 Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

Psalm 119 was published a book called Psalm 119: Thy Word is a Lamp unto My Feet. The book of Psalms is one of Deborah’s favorite books of the Bible. It is a great book to read if you’re ever feeling down or need to renew your relationship with Christ. King David went through a lot of tough times in his lifetime, but he loved God and trusted God to protect him from his enemies.
The book of Psalms was written by various people. About half of it was attributed to King David, whether they were written by David or for David is questioned by some biblical scholars. Some of the Psalms were written by Asaph and some say they were written for the sons of Korah and even Moses and Solomon were writers of the Psalms. The Psalms consists of poetry that was primarily meant to be used as songs of praise to the Lord.
This part of the book of Psalms contains fifteen of the Songs of degrees. They were the songs or chants that the people of Israel sang as they journeyed to Jerusalem. It also contains some of the Psalms of David.
The Book of Psalms: Part 5 Chapters 120-150 contains thirty-eight Daily Bible Reading Lessons. Each lesson contains a brief commentary by the author, the Daily Bible Reading Scriptures, a few questions for contemplation or discussion, and a prayer of the day.
