The Earth is Full of Your Mercy
Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Psalm 119:57-64. This portion of Scripture from Psalm 119 starts with the letter CHETH which is the eighth letter from the Hebrew Alphabet. It represents the number eight. The Psalmist declares that the LORD is his portion and he has promised to keep God’s Words. He seeks God’s favor with his whole heart and asks God to be merciful to him according to His word.
He examined his ways and turned toward God’s testimonies. He made a decision to obey God’s commandments immediately and not delay. The wicked have tortured and robbed him, but he will not let them cause him to forget God’s law.
The Psalmist promises he will awake at midnight to give thanks to God because of his righteous judgments. He is a friend to all those who fear God and keep His precepts. He declares that the earth is full of God’s mercy and asks the LORD to teach him His statutes.
Daily Bible Reading:
Psalm 119:57-64
57 CHETH. Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words.
58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.
59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.
60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
61 The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.
62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.
63 I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.
64 The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.
Things to Think About:
- Do you consider the LORD to be your portion?
- Do you seek God’s favor in your life?
- Do you strive to walk in the ways of the LORD?
- Do you treasure God’s love and mercy?
Prayer of the Day:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You for this Scripture in Psalm 119 where the Psalmist reminds us of Your love, mercy, and favor on our lives. Help us to treasure You and Your word. Help us to seek Your favor in our lives by walking righteously before You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
