Daily Bible Reading “Happy Are Those Who Find Wisdom” (Proverbs 3:13-18)

Happy Are Those Who Find Wisdom

Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Proverbs 3:13-18. Solomon tells his son; happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man that gets understanding. Even though Solomon is talking to his son, the instructions that he gives in the book of Proverbs can apply to all of us, not only to men.

Wisdom is more profitable than silver and the gain of it more than fine gold.

Wisdom is more precious than fine jewels. All the things you desire can not be compared to the value of true wisdom.

A long life is in her right hand. In her left hand are wealth and honor.
Her ways are pleasant, and her paths lead to peace.

Wisdom is like a tree of life to those who obtain it. Happy are those who retain wisdom.

Notice in these Scriptures that Solomon speaks of wisdom as a lady. Like women are instructed in the Bible to submit to their husbands. We are instructed to submit our ways to the ways of the LORD. In doing so we will find wisdom.

Be careful where you seek counsel. When we take counsel from ungodly people we can end up in a lot of trouble. Making bad decisions can lead to death and destruction.

When we seek wisdom from the LORD and from those who walk in His ways, we can find joy, peace, and abundance in this life and in the life to come.

Daily Bible Reading:

Proverbs 3:13-18

13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Things to think about:

  • What are some of the benefits of finding wisdom that Solomon speaks of in this Scripture?
  • What are we promised when we seek wisdom?
  • Where should we seek wisdom?

Prayer of the Day:

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we read this Scripture in Proverbs we see that Solomon tells his son that those who find wisdom are happy and blessed. Help us as we study the book of Proverbs to realize the importance of seeking Your wisdom in our lives. Help us to seek Your wisdom in our daily lives. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
