Daily Bible Reading “God Is My Strength and Power” (2 Samuel 22:31-39)

2 Samuel 22-33God Is My Strength and Power

Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from 2 Samuel 22:31-39. David praised the LORD saying, “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a shield to those who trust in him.” David asked, “Who is the one true God, except the LORD? Who is a rock, but our God?”

David declared, “God is my strength and power: and he makes my way perfect.” He made David’s feet to be swift like those of a deer: and set him upon high places.

The LORD taught David to be a great warrior and strengthened him so that his bow which was made of steel broke by power of his arms. David was protected by the LORD’S shield of salvation: and the LORD’S gentleness made David great. The LORD widened David’s path so his feet didn’t slip.

David pursued his enemies, and destroyed them; and didn’t turn back until he consumed them. He consumed them, and wounded them, so they could not get back up. David’s enemies fell under his feet.

Where do you find strength and power to fight the enemy? This is not something we can do in our own strength. We need the help of the LORD.

Daily Bible Reading:

2 Samuel 22:31-39

31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?
33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.
34 He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet: and setteth me upon my high places.
35 He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
36 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.
37 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.
38 I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.
39 And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet.

Things to think about:

  • Who did David say taught him to fight like a mighty warrior?
  • From where did David get his strength and power?
  • How did David become a great warrior?

Prayer of the Day:

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we read this Scripture in 2 Samuel 22 we see that David credited most of his success as a great warrior to You. He knew that You were the one who directed his steps and helped him to defeat his enemies. Help us to realize that it is You who gives us the strength to live our daily lives and the power to defeat the enemy in our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. We love You, LORD. Amen.
