Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Proverbs 12:5-11. In this Scripture we are warned that the thoughts of the righteous are right: but the guidance of the wicked is deceptive.
The words of the wicked lurk for blood: but the speech of the upright delivers them.
The wicked are overthrown, and perish: but the house of the righteous will stand.
A person will be commended according to their wisdom: but those who have a perverse heart will be despised.
Those who are despised, and have a servant, are better than those who honor themselves, and are hungry.
A righteous person cares for his animals: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Those who work their land will be satisfied with food: but those who follow vain people lack understanding.
We need to be careful who we take advice from. Not everybody has our best interest at heart.
Our prayer should be, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10)
Daily Bible Reading:
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
Things to think about:
- Would you rather take advice from a righteous person or a wicked person? Why?
- What is the difference in the way a righteous person and a wicked person treat their animals?
- What is the benefit of working the land?
Prayer of the Day:
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we read this Scripture and compare the life of the righteous with that of those who are wicked we see that the righteous have Your blessings on them. The righteous make wise decisions. The wicked are foolish. Help us to be righteous and wise. Help us to walk in Your ways. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
