Daily Bible Reading “God is Faithful” (Psalm 89:22-32)

God is Faithful

Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Psalm 89:22-32. God is faithful to His promises. He promised to be faithful to David. He protected David from the enemy. He showed mercy to David. How often do we experience God’s faithfulness?

God has a plan for us and our life. Even though sometimes we are not faithful and things seem to go by the wayside, God has an ultimate plan and He will work out His will.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11).

The Psalmist reminded God of all the promises He made to David. God says if His children don’t obey Him, He will visit their transgressions. Remember as a child, when you would disobey your parents, there would be consequences for your actions. I remember a few times as a child, when I got in trouble and was punished for my behavior. When we are disobedient to God we will suffer the consequences of our disobedience. God loves us. He wants the best for us, but He can’t ignore our sin. God is faithful to us and He wants us to be faithful to Him as well.

Daily Bible Reading:

Psalm 89:22-32

22 The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

23 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.

24 But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.

25 I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.

26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.

27 Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.

29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

30 If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;

31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;

32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

Things to think about:

  • How often have you experienced God’s faithfulness in your life?
  • In what ways do you find God faithful?
  • What are some ways we can show our faithfulness to God?

Prayer of the Day:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank You for this Scripture in Psalm 89:22-32, where the Psalmist reminds us of Your faithfulness. Thank You for being faithful to Your children. Help us to show our love for You by being faithful to You as well. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

About the book:

The Book of Psalms:Part 3 Chapters 61-90 by Deborah H. Bateman is 28th book in the Daily Bible Reading Series. The book of Psalms contains 150 chapters. Deborah divided The Book of Psalms into five books to make it easier to read and study. Each book contains approximately thirty chapters from the book of Psalms.

Psalm 119 will not be included in The Book of Psalms since Deborah has already published a book about it called: Psalm 119: Thy Word is a Lamp unto My Feet.

The book of Psalms is one of Deborah’s favorite books of the Bible. It is a great book to read if you’re ever feeling down or need to renew your relationship with Christ. King David went through a lot of tough times in his lifetime, but he loved God and trusted God to protect him from his enemies.

The book of Psalms was written by various people. About half of it was attributed to King David, whether they were written by David or for David is questioned by some biblical scholars. Some of the Psalms were written by Asaph and some say they were written for the sons of Korah and even Moses and Solomon were writers of the Psalms. The Psalms consists of poetry that was primarily meant to be used as songs of praise to the Lord.

The Book of Psalms: Part 3 Chapters 61-90 contains fifty Daily Bible Reading Lessons. Each lesson contains a brief commentary by the author, the Daily Bible Reading Scriptures, a few questions for contemplation or discussion, and a prayer of the day. It is a great Bible study for individuals or group studies.
