Today’s Daily Bible Reading is from Proverbs 8:32-36. Today we are picking up where we left off with the book of Proverbs before Christmas. Can you hear Jesus saying, “Listen to me. Blessed are those who keep my ways?”
He tells us to be wise and listen to instruction and don’t reject it. One of the signs of wisdom is being able to take instruction and correction.
Blessed are those who hear me. They watch daily at my gates and wait at the posts of my doors. Are you watching and waiting for the Lord?
Whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor with the LORD. Have you found Jesus as your Savior? If so, this Scripture tells us that you have found favor with God.
Those who sin against me wrongs his own soul. When we sin against God, we not only hurt Him but we do harm to ourselves.
Those who hate me love death. Those who reject Jesus as their Savior will be condemned to eternal death.
Which one are you?
Are you one who loves the Lord and keeps His ways? The Scripture says you are blessed not only in this life, but in the life to come. You have accepted Jesus as your Savior and look forward to life eternal.
Or are you one who rejects the Lord and looks forward to eternal death. It’s not too late. Surrender your life to Him today. Accept Jesus as your Savior. Love and serve Him and look forward to eternal life.
Daily Bible Reading:
32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
Things to think about:
- In what ways do you consider yourself to be wise?
- How do you respond to instruction and correction?
- Have you put your faith and trust in Jesus? If so, do you remember when and where it took place?
Prayer of the day:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this Scripture in the book of Proverbs. Help us to realize the difference between those who love and accept Your Son as their Savior and those who reject You. Help those who have not yet accepted Jesus as their Savior to realize their need for Him. For those of us who have accepted Jesus as our Savior we thank You for the precious gift of salvation which was sent to us through Your Son. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
